We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Construction Manager to join the business on a permanent, full-time basis working from one of our prestigious projects in Central London and the surrounding areas which will also require some travel to our Watford Head Office and London Office.

Key Responsibilites

  • Attend and be pro-active in any Health & Safety Meetings.
  • Be responsible for all management and supervision of all on site personnel and sub-contractor staff. In the event of a self-delivery model this would extend to the trade supervisors.
  • Be in attendance on site whilst all Operatives and Designer Group Sub-Contractors are present.
  • Carry out Designer Group Inductions for all Operatives working on site and maintain the induction records including copies of their CSCS Cards or trade specific skills card. Ensure the CSCS Card is trade relevant.
  • Conduct weekly toolbox talks.
  • Carry out Weekly Inspections on all MEWPS, Hop Ups, Podiums etc. and record on the PUWER Register.
  • Maintain and manage the Hire Plant Register (if applicable) or ensure Sub-Contractors do the same. Responsible for off hiring equipment as necessary when no longer needed.
  • Ensure all operatives have read and understand their Method Statements or Designer Groups Method Statement if working under them and obtain a signature to record the same.
  • Ensure any necessary permits are issued, signed and in date.
  • Review RAMS as necessary and when conditions change in the workplace or at least every 12 weeks.
  • Ensure Designer Group Safe Start policy is implemented, these are to be reviewed once completed and counter signed by the construction manager.
  • Inspect all electrical equipment, leads etc. which has been brought/delivered to site to ensure they have been PAT Tested and are in date and record and maintain the site register. Please note, any equipment without a PAT label or is out of date is not allowed on site.
  • Issue Designer Group PPE (Hard Hats and High Vis Vests ONLY) to all Operatives working on site.
  • Ensure the correct Designer Group 5-point PPE is correctly worn.
  • Ensure that for persons needing optical glasses for their regular work have safety glasses or over glasses.
  • Ensure Behavioural Safety.
  • Encourage Near Miss reporting from across the Designer Group Team, ensure they are balanced, and not just aimed upline, raise with the relevant parties, and assist in closing out. Encourage good working practises and report these as beneficial.
  • In the event of an incident, or accident ensure your line manager, or their line manager is aware immediately or as soon as reasonably possible, complete accident report fully and with the Project Manager present.
  • Ensure there is safe and adequate access and egress in place.
  • Issue all Health and Safety paperwork in a timely manner as deemed necessary to the Main Contractor.
  • Conduct Safety Tours as directed and part of the rota, ensuring Field View is used.
  • Assist and take a pro-active approach when Designer Groups Safety Advisor attends site to prepare their monthly audit.
  • Notify all parties on any actions which have arisen from the monthly Health and Safety Audit and work in conjunction with them to close out.
  • Ensure all Operatives (Designer Group & Sub-Cons) sign clearly in and out in the Designer Group Daily Signing-in Sheets.
  • Weekly issue to the Document Controller the Daily signing in and out sheets for collation of site hours for Health and Safety data.
  • Maintain a positive and constructive relationship with the Main Contractors representatives.
  • In the event of site conflict, manage professionally and if necessary, stop work, if not able to resolve yourself then raise with your line manager.
  • Maintain a positive and constructive relationship with the Clients, sub-contractors, all trades, Designer Group senior management.
  • Maintain the stores, office area and workspace in a neat and tidy fashion.
  • Ensure all Designer Group sub-contractors maintain a clean site policy.
  • Represent Designer Group in a professional manner.
  • Take delivery of all materials, maintain delivery notes for return to the Office, and liaise with all suppliers re: shortfalls in delivery’s etc.
  • Manage Plant Movement/requirements.
  • Plan material requirements at least 2 weeks in advance.
  • Request materials and Call Offs in a timely manner to maintain programme and keep the labour 100% productive.
  • Attend and be proactive in the daily DAB Meetings and all other on-site progress meetings.
  • Provide Project Managers with current up to date marked up progress drawings on a weekly basis.
  • If the Project is 24 Hours, ensure Handover notes are prepared and a de-brief is carried out to the Supervisor taking over, prior to leaving site.
  • Understand the Main Contractors Delivery Protocol, and adhere to the same, and liaise with the Main Contractors re use of crane and forklift to assist deliveries.
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager and if required, assist in procurement, procurement strategies, value engineering, CDPs, Technical Submittals and works packaging.
  • Progress deliveries directly with the Suppliers and Sub-Contractors.
  • Prepare and ensure the information is recorded to where all operatives are/were working on Daily Allocation Sheets.
  • Liaise with the Main Contractors Site Team with regards to Site issues effecting Designer Groups progress and progress to close out, inform Designer Groups management should the discussions have programme or financial implications.
  • Maintain a daily Site Diary, recording the key points relating to Site Issues that have occurred within the day.
  • Daily review the programme to ensure sufficient labour and materials are on site and take action accordingly. Raising any issues to the relevant Project Manager.
  • Manage, liaise, and drive the sub-contractors to maintain programme.
  • Weekly record and issue to the Office the progress on the Main Contractor and Designer Groups Sub-Contractor.
  • Assist Designer Group management in preparing Progress Reports to be issued to the Main Contractor.
  • Maintain and update drawings on site for record purposes and return to the office in a timely manner to ensure record drawings are prepared prior to handover of the project.
  • Manage and arrange any Commissioning process on site to meet the programme deadlines.
  • Attend and witness all testing and commissioning, ensuring all paperwork is correct and presented to the Main Contractor for signature.
  • Maintain with the Document Controller all Testing and Commissioning certificates.
  • Attend any meetings with Designer Group management as requested, either with the Main Contractor or sub-contractor.
  • Bring to the attention of Designer Group Management anything that could be detrimental to the Project, completion of the Project, working relationship with the Main Contractor and Sub- Contractors and the good name of Designer Group.
  • Monitor and manage scope changes ensuring the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor are made aware of such change.
  • Monitor the Sub-Contractors quality of work and take action accordingly to address any issues that arise from your inspections while recording the same.
  • Snag the Sub-Contractors work prior to handing the area back to the Main Contractor for continuation with their works, ensure all snagging works are complete and signed off prior to handing the area back, utilising Fieldview for this task.
  • Manage and maintain the Projects ITP, check sheets to be completed and issued throughout the project’s installation.
  • Prepare and issue any Benchmarks to the PC and client.
  • Manage any testing procedures that need to be carried out on site, maintain a file including the signed test sheets from the Main Contractor and Client, Copies of the Calibration certificates if applicable and marked up drawing of the areas on test.
  • Review and ensure all drawings on the project are the latest revision and have been incorporated into the works.
  • Review and ensure the latest contract specification is stored on site.
  • Keep an updated Red Line drawing file and register on site.

Knowledge and Experience

  • NVQ3 as a minimum in respected area (Mechanical / Electrical). Equivalent qualifications or relevant experience will be considered.
  • Site Managers Safety Certificate (SMSTs) and associated CSCS card.
