This is an exciting time for Designer Group, with the fruits of our Engineering Our Future Strategy 2025 reflected in our substantial pipeline of work in Ireland, Europe, Africa and South America.

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working with senior management, the Financial Controller will have a key role with responsibility for the Finance Function.  The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast paced finance function of a growing multi-company multi-currency domestic and international focused business.  The role will deal with all levels within the group from staff to board level as well as liaising with outside stakeholders.  This is an on-site role based in our North Dublin office.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Management of day to day finance function for the group.  Preparation and review of management and statutory accounts and annual filings.  Manage external service providers supporting foreign entities accounting, tax and compliance requirements including group insurances.
  • Overseeing all financial control activities, including but not restricted to month-end close process, comprehensive Balance Sheet substantiation and Consolidation of group results.
  • Payroll.  Manage the Weekly and Monthly payroll for Ireland and Overseas.  Prepare the Exec payroll.
  • Team Management.  Lead an existing finance team of up to 7 staff (qualified and non-qualified).  Collaborate closely with Commercial Business Partner and Tax Manager.
  • Audit and Control Compliance.  Lead External Audit engagements and Internal Audit review and subsequent closure of any relevant recommendations.  Maintain up to date SOP’s for all Finance processes and implement new requirements as needed.
  • Budget & Forecasts.  Lead the annual Budget and Quarterly Forecast process for Overheads and Balance Sheet.
  • Continuous Improvement.  Champion C.I. in People Performance, Process & Systems and embed a Centre of Excellence mindset in the function’s Ways of Working.  Support ‘Best Value’ initiatives across all departments.
  • Financial Modelling.  Prepare financial models to support growth initiatives, cost efficiencies, investment decisions and project assessments.

 

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA ) with at least 5 years’ PQE.
  • Analytical and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong focus on controls and processes and a high attention to detail.
  • People manager who can evidence development of staff through coaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and be flexible
