Overview of duties

  • You will be required to carry out Mechanical Installations, Gas Welding, Soldering, Brazing and all associated mechanical plant.
  • Involved in both the installation and maintenance of hot and cold water systems in domestic and commercial buildings, sanitation, drainage and heating systems, electronic controllers, theory and practice.
  • Supervision of apprentice(s) under your control and continued mentoring and development of same.
  • Ability to effectively read drawings and design specification in accordance with the requirements of a project.
  • Review design process to ensure that installations are fit for purpose.
  • You will be required to procure materials for site, while adhering to Designer Group procedures.
  • Co-ordination of delivery of materials to site, when required, including checking quantity and quality of deliveries and taking full responsibility for same.
  • Liaison with clients, main contractors and other trades personnel as and when required.
  • Attendance at site meetings.
  • Will be required to have a full and thorough understanding of Designer Group Health & Safety and Quality Procedures associated with all aspects of the job.
  • Capable of taking instruction from Foreman and/or Senior Management and ensure all project deadlines/milestones are achieved on or ahead of schedule.
  • Depending on the size/nature of a project you may be required to undertake some/all of the following duties;
    – Ensure co-ordination of plant movement and plant records, and keeping log records up to date and accurate and reporting plant issues to the Plant Manager including procurement, condition and delivery.
    – Carry out weekly Toolbox Talks on site with all direct and indirect personnel
    – Carry out safety inductions with new site personnel
    – Monitoring and implementing Method Statements daily.
    – Supervision of specialist Designer Group personnel.

Key requirements

  • Fully qualified Plumber/Pipefitter with experience in Industrial/Commercial environments
  • Proven experience across all relevant sectors
  • Good exposure and positive attitude to Health & Safety best practise and requirements
  • Positive attitude towards developing Apprentices
