Overview
Clerys Dublin is one of Europe’s oldest purpose-built department stores; its iconic clock is a renowned landmark and meeting place. A flash flood in July 2013 caused millions of Euro of damage to the building and stock. The doors were reopened in November 2013 in time for the Christmas retail market. Each floor of the 160 year old 11,200 sq.m store was refurbished.
Designer Group carried out the electrical refurbishment works in the store. The existing decorative ceiling and building details were brought back to life as part of design team’s vision for the store. Track lighting was used to highlight the merchandise and the ornate ceiling detail. 2500 meters of LED decorative strip lighting was utilised to modernise the retail space. The project was completed in under eleven weeks and required extensive coordination with other services.
