Overview
International Broadcast Centre (IBC) – London Olympic Games 2012
The media centre building for the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games served approximately twelve thousand media staff with office and broadcasting facilities. Media organisations from all over the world were located in this building and set up their studios and editing equipment for the duration of the games. The site is 60,000 square meters and contained 160 recording studios.
The building was returned to its original shell and core condition by the construction team when the games finished. In preparation for this project a team from Designer Group visited the media centre building in Vancouver, Canada, that was constructed for the Winter Olympic Games. A team revisited to witness the decommissioning and strip out of the building.
Designer Group installed and maintained the entire installation for the duration of the London 2012 Games. An active team was in place to handle any ad hoc design and build requirements from the media teams.
