Overview
Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin is an acute paediatric teaching hospital with over 200 beds and employing over 1,500 staff. It is Ireland’s largest paediatric hospital and is responsible for the provision of the majority of tertiary care services for children including the national centre for cardiac surgery and haematology/oncology, major burns, medical genetics and medical research for childhood illnesses.
This project was an extension to the existing facility and is designed around a 5,500 sq.m medical tower around a central atrium with a dedicated play area. The unit accommodates specialist care facilities for children with Hepatitis C and Cystic Fibrosis. It provides consulting rooms, meeting rooms and EEG facilities. The building was constructed in four phased sections to suit the client’s handover requirements.
