Dublin Castle – a site of such historical significance is a challenge in itself – absolutely no room for error. Each location within Dublin Castle was treated as separate project, every area had its own set of critical needs and unique requirements.
One of the main challenges were the Castle’s chandeliers. Each unique, each made of the finest crystal, each piece of crystal requiring cleaning.
Designer Group installed bespoke lifting and lowering motors on each chandelier. We had to cordon off areas whilst the Castle was still open to the public.
Due to the nature of the Castle and its dense walls, we devised several unique solutions to ensure the installation of wireless fire alarm systems and other services did not damage the existing walls.

Case Studies / Dublin Castle
Designer Group had a close planning and working relationship with the OPW heritage architects and engineering team. Early planning was a key factor and phasing of works to allow for state functions and after hours needs were critical.
We maintained a great relationship with all key stakeholders and worked together to ensure that the job was done but with minimal disruption to the Castle’s daily activities.
