Vacancies

Our graduate and trainee programmes have been created to attract high calibre and ambitious people. We offer programmes in quantity surveying, mechanical, and electrical engineering which are supported by the entire business – we all invest in your future.

The programmes combine hands-on experience with technical knowledge and all graduates and trainees are assigned a mentor, who will guide your journey and help you to fulfil your potential. Trainees are also given one day a week study day, where they can work towards their required qualification.

Over 2 years, you will gain an all-round skill set, working on our world class projects, and obtaining insight within the core teams, and the full construction lifecycle.

All graduates receive continuous professional development and regular feedback to ensure you gain the maximum benefit from the scheme and learn everything you need to work for an international M&E contractor.

To register your interest for the graduate scheme, please apply with your most recent CV, the application form (attached) and a written cover letter (no more than 500 words).  Your covering letter should include a brief description of why you are the best candidate for the vacancy.

Our trainee scheme follows a similar structure of rotational modules in various departments, with paid day release to study.

I have been working for Designer Group for the previous 4 years throughout my undergraduate degree. Since graduating in 2020, Designer Group have continued to provide me with the training and mentoring I have required to progress in my career as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor. They have given endless opportunity and guidance to learn alongside them, and gain experience into the role of the Quantity Surveyor in the company’s excellent working environment.

I joined Designer Group with an interest in being part of an international company dedicated to delivering projects to the highest quality, health and safety standards. DG have supported my development through CPD courses providing technical knowledge of the systems & equipment we install on site and courses such as SMSTS for health and safety and management of operatives on site. My practical knowledge of building mechanical systems has significantly increased with crucial on site experience witnessing the operation and commissioning process, and I will shortly commence a MSc to further my professional development.

I joined Designer Group because it is a fast, up and coming engineering company with many opportunities that focused on promoting from within. It also has a very extensive graduate programme that gives me opportunities to experience the industry through several different roles to find what suited me best. I particularly enjoyed my opportunities to working with the commercial and operations team giving further insight into the construction business as well as the practical side respectively. Through my development in the graduate scheme, I feel I have learned a lot but better than that I feel I have been empowered to convey and implement my own ideas into my work thanks to the close support of colleagues.
