The Shelbourne Hotel

Dublin, Ireland

Founded in 1824, the Shelbourne Hotel is a protected structure and famous landmark located on St Stephen’s Green in Dublin 2.

Our work involved a complete replacement of all plant for the mechanical services, along with a refurbishment of the bedrooms and corridors at this 5-star hotel. The refurbishment had to happen whilst the hotel continued to operate. There was to be no downtime. This set a challenge in terms of working practices and potential health & safety complications.

The works were carried out on a phased start and completion basis for each floor. The hotel continued to operate as usual throughout the works, reflected in the health and safety measures implemented to protect all users of the hotel’s facilities. The scope of works involved the mechanical and electrical installation works to 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th floor levels of the St. Stephen’s Green wing, including the isolation, design and installation to upgrade to the existing M&E services and all enabling works associated with the project.
