For International Women’s Day this year, we decided to show our appreciation to all the wonderful women in Designer Group. We sent goodie boxes and recorded a short video to show the importance of International Women’s Day and to acknowledge as a business that we are celebrating for all women, especially women in the Construction sector.

I joined the industry some 5 years ago and I remember feeling intimidated about joining a male dominated environment and wondered if I would be taken seriously. I am both proud and happy to say that this has not been the case and it has not been in the least bit intimidating.  I am respected, and I know my colleagues value my opinion.

Designer Group are proud to be members of the CIF Diversity and Inclusion pledge, aiming to support diversity in the industry – this month the focus is on women and encouraging more to join the industry without reservation.

One of Designer Group’s apprentices, Erinn, gave a talk on International Women’s Day and expressed, “we are celebrating for all women, across the world!” Erinn also expressed how she was inspired to join the industry by a woman who she met working within the trade sector, which is a brilliant way of making the connection. It shows the importance of women supporting each other to empower us make those bold choices and encourage women to choose a career they want.

International Women’s Day is an extremely important day to us all at Designer Group, and as DG’s Talent Partner, I hope to encourage more women to join our organisation over the months and years to come.
