In 2020, Designer Group achieved a significant milestone by securing a prestigious Data Centre project in Oslo, Norway, marking our successful entry into the Northern European market. Situated on an extensive 67,000m² plot, this high-profile venture showcased our expertise in full electrical and mechanical design and build, amounting to a substantial project valued at €16 million.

This initiative was the initial phase of a larger-scale project comprising six phases, with a total capacity of 36MW for the mission-critical data centre facility. Our client, a global data provider renowned for its commitment to sustainability, demanded nothing short of the most stringent standards. To meet their expectations, we designed the facility with optimal efficiency in mind, ensuring a reduced Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). Notably, the project operated exclusively on 100% renewable energy sources, while implementing an innovative snow-melt cooling installation.

We built a strong relationship with our client, cementing our reputation as a trusted partner in the industry and, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic outbreak, Designer Group were focused on delivering for our valued client on time and on budget.

Building upon this success, we are pleased to continue our collaboration on three more projects across Norway and Sweden.

Designer Group worked collaboratively with our client throughout the process and we also committed fully to working in Oslo, by not only setting up a business in Norway, but investing in significant research to provide a planned service for all our staff and operatives with use of accommodation, camps and shuttle buses.

We also deployed a Director for the final 4 weeks on site for RFS and an Aftercare Manager for a seamless handover. We are now delighted to be working on the PCSA works for phase 2.
