LSCC Biologics Facility

Bristol-Myers Squibb is a global Biopharma company firmly focused on its Mission to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases. BMS employs over 27,000 people worldwide, including approximately 550 people in Ireland in its Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS) and Commercial operations. 

BMS operations in Ireland includes two Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing sites in Swords, Co. Dublin and Cruiserath, Dublin 15; a Global Biologics Drug Product Testing Laboratory based in Cruiserath, Dublin 15; and the External Manufacturing Division also based in Cruiserath, Dublin 15. The new state-of-the-art, large-scale facility significantly increased Bristol-Myers Squibb’s biologics manufacturing capacity and plays a central role in its global manufacturing network. 

It produces multiple therapies for the company’s growing biologics portfolio, particularly immuno-oncology and cancer treatment drug development. The 100-acre facility houses six 15,000-litre bioreactors and a purification area as well as office and laboratory space.

Designer Group were responsible for the LOC (Laboratory, Office, Canteen) building, two-storeys with a mechanical penthouse (over 16,000 sq.m). Designer Group also installed the site-wide Security, CCTV and Access Control Systems and Communications Fibre Networks. Due to the demanding schedule constraints, the project was run on a two-shift rota to meet the handover date. The dedicated construction team delivered this project within these constraints to the highest quality standards.
