We are delighted to announce that Designer Group have successfully won the shell & core and MEP installation for a brand-new mixed-use development in the bustling, northern zone of King’s Cross Central – a project worth £24 million. The scheme is the largest mixed-use development in a single ownership in central London and is part of 50 no. new buildings across a 67-acre site.

R8 consists of one 14-storey block and one 12-storey block with shared basement, made up of high-end residential and 24,469sqm of CAT A office space. The blocks are united at street level by a mixed-use ground floor opening onto a central courtyard and boast landscaped roof terraces.

The programme consists of 30 weeks of preconstruction and an 80-week construction period, due to start on site in April 2022. The design uses exposed services and considers the many interfaces in the area including Network Rail and uses adopted utilities from Metropolitan.

R8 King’s Cross will be another repeat business project for our longstanding client McLaren Major Projects and working alongside the end user client – property giant, Argent. This is testament to our ability to consistently deliver exceptional standards of work.
